"Blue Sea & Sky, Coastal Cleanup Programme” Funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund
Hong Kong - January 2025
Funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund, Inspire Education Association organized two meaningful parent-child beach cleanup activities on January 18th and 19th at Sai Kung's Pak Lap Wan. Specifically designed for ethnic minority communities, the event invited 50 participants from ethnic minority families over the two days. The aim was to raise awareness about environmental protection and marine ecology, deepen understanding of environmental issues, and encourage active participation in marine conservation efforts.
During the event, we held a thematic lecture that delved into the types of marine litter, the long-term impacts of plastic on marine ecosystems, and the importance of marine biodiversity. Through engaging presentations and interactive sessions, participants not only learned about the severity of marine pollution but also understood the importance of reducing plastic use in daily life.
Following the lecture, participants joined a shoreline cleanup activity. Working together, they meticulously collected plastic bottles, fishing nets, foam plastics, and other debris from the beach. Through their collective efforts, a total of 103 kilograms of marine litter was collected over the two days, contributing to the protection of marine ecosystems and helping to create a cleaner, healthier environment for all!
