"GRITeam - Hong Kong Four Poles" Leadership Programme: The South Pole of HKG - Po Toi Island
Hong Kong - March 2025
Sponsored by "Centaline Charity Fund". To inspire student potential and cultivate leadership qualities and a growth mindset, Inspire Education Association and the Hong Kong Professional Association for the Gifted and Talented jointly organized the "GRITeam - Hong Kong Four Poles" leadership programme, designed for Secondary 1 to Secondary 5 students. Combining leadership training with ecological and earth science exploration, the first leg of the journey was successfully completed on March 29, taking students to Hong Kong’s southernmost point - Po Toi Island - for an immersive experience in nature and culture.
Guided by instructors, students observed the island’s unique rock formations up close, such as the palm-shaped "Palm of Buddha" and the lifelike "Tortoise Rock," learning about geological structures and natural weathering processes through hands-on exploration. Additionally, the activity included a visit to ancient rock carvings dating back over 3,000 years to the Bronze Age, allowing students to appreciate Hong Kong’s rich cultural heritage. The journey concluded at Hong Kong’s southernmost cape, Nam Kok Tsui, marking a perfect end to the first expedition.
This event not only connected students with nature but also sparked their interest in earth sciences while strengthening teamwork and problem-solving skills. The "Hong Kong Four Poles" programme will continue with three more expeditions, guiding students to explore other unique geographical and ecological landscapes in Hong Kong, further advancing the goals of leadership development and scientific inquiry.
