Regenerative ART: A Creative Concept Inspired by Nature’s Vitality
Hong Kong - November 2024
The recent birth of a pair of giant panda cubs at Hong Kong Ocean Park, along with a young pair from Sichuan, has ignited a wave of excitement throughout the city. This enthusiasm has inspired a collaborative effort between the Inspire Education Association, Hong Kong Ocean Park, and renowned paper artist Mr. Joe Wong to curate an exhibition focused on pandas. This exhibition will seamlessly integrate themes of “art”, “environmental conservation” and “sustainable development”. The initiative has garnered strong support from Maxim’s Group, Kanghong Digital Image (HK) Limited, and The Salvation Army Ann Wyllie Memorial School.
Guided by Mr. Joe Wong, over 200 students from 12 primary and secondary schools creatively repurposed more than a thousand mooncake boxes donated by Maxim’s Group. These boxes were transformed into versatile shapes such as long fractals and irregular polygons. This collaborative effort has culminated in the creation of 13 vibrant and dynamic giant panda paper art pieces. The exhibition will be held at the Whiskers Theatre, Hong Kong Ocean Park, from November 14th to 30th, 2024.
Inspire Education Association aims to broaden students’ perspectives on eco-art through this innovative fusion of art and educational technology. This initiative encourages students to give discarded materials a second life, thereby enhancing their awareness of ecological conservation and the importance of protecting our planet.
