On February 22-23, 2025, Inspire Education Association organized a two-day study tour to Shenzhen for students from The Education University of Hong Kong. The itinerary combined academic exchange, environmental education, and cultural exploration, allowing students to gain an in-depth understanding of Shenzhen's development and innovation.
Day 1: Academic Exchange and Historical-Cultural Experience
Upon arriving in Shenzhen, the students first visited Shenzhen University, where they attended a special lecture hosted by the College of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering. They engaged in in-depth discussions with professors and researchers to learn about the latest advancements in Shenzhen's technology and education sectors. After lunch, the group toured the Shenzhen University campus, experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of this young and dynamic institution.
Later, the team visited Nantou Ancient Station, one of Shenzhen’s top ten distinctive cultural districts. The students strolled through the ancient streets, admiring the blend of traditional and modern architectural styles while learning about Lingnan culture and historical relics.
Day 2: Environmental Technology and Sustainable Development
The second day focused on environmental issues. In the morning, the students visited the Shenzhen Municipal Waste Disposal History Museum. Through interactive exhibits and guided explanations, they gained insights into Shenzhen’s advanced technologies and policy developments in waste sorting, recycling, and disposal.
In the afternoon, the group headed to Nanshan Energy Ecological Park to observe firsthand the innovative process of converting waste into energy. This modern facility not only efficiently handles urban waste but also integrates environmental education, allowing the students to deeply appreciate the importance of sustainable development.
This study tour not only broadened the students’ horizons but also gave them a firsthand experience of Shenzhen’s outstanding achievements in technology, education, and environmental protection. Through on-site visits and exchanges, they gained a deeper understanding of the Greater Bay Area’s development potential and were inspired to reflect on their future academic and career paths.
