Open Seminar for Gifted Education

Hong Kong - June 2025

International research indicates that gifted adolescents do not necessarily exhibit a higher incidence of social-emotional issues compared to their peers, though their psychological needs often manifest distinct characteristics. To deepen discourse on this subject, the seminar "Social Emotional Needs of Students with High-Abilities" was successfully convened on 25 June 2025 at The Education University of Hong Kong in hybrid format.

Sponsored by Centaline Charity Fund, Inspire Education Association, Hong Kong Professional Association for the Gifted and Talented, and The Education University of Hong Kong, the event featured Professor Lianne Hoogeveen as keynote speaker – in her dual capacity as President of the European Council for High Ability (ECHA) and Director of the Radboud Center Social Sciences, Radboud University, Netherlands.

Professor Hoogeveen examined the unique social motional requirements of gifted learners while providing implementable strategies applicable across both educational settings and home environments.
