Small Rocketry Workshop

Hong Kong - May 2025

The "Small Rocketry Workshop", sponsored by the Centaline Charity Fund, co-organized by the Inspire Education Association and the Hong Kong Professional Association for the Gifted and Talented, and supported with venue provision by ELCHK Lutheran Academy, was successfully held at the school's Space Hub on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

This initiative effectively dispelled the myth that "rocket building is the exclusive domain of scientists", allowing local secondary school students to personally experience the intricacies of rocket design and construction.

The workshop focused on hands-on application. Students moved beyond constructing simple water rockets to tackle the challenge of building small-scale rockets powered by solid-fuel propulsion. Under guidance, participants utilized the professional rocket design software OpenRocket to learn fundamental rocket operating principles and design their own unique rocket models. Within just three hours, students progressed from theory to practice, gaining in-depth knowledge of propulsion systems, aerodynamics, and flight stability. They transformed their creative ideas into concrete rocket blueprints.

Beyond igniting students' passion for aerospace technology, this workshop showcased the innovative potential of Hong Kong's secondary students in the STEM field. It demonstrated to young learners that with the right tools and knowledge, the dream to reach for the skies is attainable. The event sowed vital seeds for cultivating future technology talent.
