Building a Friendly Campus: A Lecture on "Social-Emotional Learning" Skills

Campuses are places for learning and growth, yet bullying can quietly erode students' physical and mental well‑being. Statistics show that nearly 30% of students in Hong Kong have experienced bullying, a rate higher than the international average, with serious impacts on victims’ emotions, social lives, and academic performance. In response, this lecture centres on Social‑Emotional Learning (SEL) to help students develop self‑awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and interpersonal skills, addressing bullying at its root and fostering a culture of inclusion and care.

The lecture covers: identifying the types and signs of bullying, analysing the psychological states of bullies, victims, and bystanders, and through scenario‑based exercises, breathing techniques, and emotion‑tracking practices, enhancing emotional management and coping strategies. Participants will learn to replace indifference with empathy, impulsive reactions with responsible decision‑making, and grasp the principle of “tackle the feeling first, then the issue.” They will also acquire practical social skills such as active concern and kind communication.

We believe every student can be a starting point for change - a single greeting or a moment of understanding can turn a vortex into a spark. We sincerely invite your school to join this lecture, working together to cultivate students’ positive social‑emotional abilities. More than just teaching techniques, this lecture aims to inspire every student to recognise the value of their own emotions, to protect themselves, and to treat others with kindness. We look forward to your school’s participation, witnessing the positive transformation that social‑emotional education brings to children, and making our campus a truly safe harbour for growth.
